The Liz Gullion Scholarship Fund
This fund was created in memory of Liz Gullion, who was a longtime school psychologist in Eugene and one of the first school psychologists in Oregon. Liz was very active in both OPSA and NASP. She never missed a NASP Convention, even during her last few years when she was in poor health. When Liz was in a meeting, she always had something to contribute. She always had new and innovative ideas on how to help children. Upon her death, a fund was established in her honor by her many friends. The fund is intended to provide financial assistance for students who are training to become school psychologists, so that they may attend OSPA and NASP conventions. The OSPA treasurer manages this fund. Stipends for attending OSPA conferences are available from interest, dividends and appreciation of the Liz Gullion Fund. Funds are to be used toward OSPA conference registration, travel or lodging. The award will only partially cover such expenses. The total amount of each scholarship will be determined based on total number of applications received.
Criteria for selection to receive funds are:
1. OSPA Student Member in good standing.
2. At least half-time enrollment in an Oregon School Psychology program.
3. Students in either a Masters or Doctorate level degree program or eligible.
4. Need for funds will be considered along with other selection criteria.
OSPA typically opens for applications in the late summer or early fall, in time for students to receive partial scholarships to attend the OSPA conference. Nominations will be accepted directly from individual students. The scholarship committee will review all applications and notify recipients of the award.. The selection process may include contact with the director of the student’s school psychology program to confirm enrollment. The scholarship amount for 2016 will be $50 per award recipient.
